We drove out there on Saturday morning. The family owned and operated business is located on Kaahumanu Street in Pearl City, across the driveway from the Cattle Company Steakhouse. It’s sometimes possible to walk in and not notice the cats. Sometimes. Yesterday Stevie was out in the main showroom, front and center. Stevie is named after Stevie Wonder. Stevie was blind from birth, but you wouldn’t know it watching him make his way through the store. Of course, he’s been pampered since his rescue.

And yesterday we got to meet Lily, and Bella. But Fraidy, the fraidy cat, wouldn’t come out of hiding. Click on Stevie’s photo too see more. You’ll enjoy the show.

The trial of two men on murder charges for the beating death of another man outside a Honolulu nightclub is part of the continuing tragedy of 28-year old Ulu Faumuina Jr.

Several years ago, I wrote about the Palolo fire in which Faumuina’s father and five other family members died. It’s a tale of poverty, family, and loss. You would think that after six family members die in a house fire, nothing so terrible could ever befall the survivors. Then this.

I find it very hard to even read about this chapter of the family’s life.
