Tuesday (2)…Keep an eye out for Duke (the dog), the case of John Yoo, battery fires, and a pork recipe

Lost DogPlease keep an eye out for Duke, Duke, an Alaskan Malamute who was lost along our Windward coast in May. Since that time, Glenn & Liz, his people, have launched an incredible search for Duke.

I first saw Duke’s photo on a flyer on the bulletin board down by the Kaaawa post office. Then a reader pointed me to this web site, which has lots more information on Duke, information on tips that didn’t pan out, a bunch of photos, and a full review of the search strategy to date.

I really admire their refusal to give up and their insistence on keeping up the search for Duke.

Other news–the NY Times has an interesting debate over the case of John Yoo, the attorney who wrote the legal argument used by the Bush administration to justify torture, and the protests his tenured post at the UC Berkeley law school has generated.

The Air Line Pilots Association is calling for a ban on lithium battery shipments in airline cargo, citing three recent airline fires, including on in Honolulu. Hello? Have we had any prior news of this Honolulu airport fire?

[text]On Sunday evening, I was inspired by a very simple recipe for “roast pork for 2“. I quickly went off track by chopping way too much onion, celery, and carrots, but luckily the recipe was quite forgiving. And I forgot to grab the camera until I had already served up the meal.

But suffice it to say that it was definitely a successful experiment.
