Winter arrived a couple of days early on much of the mainland.
Same here in Kaaawa. It’s been cold. Mornings below 70 degrees (shivering!).
But there are some offsets.
Walking on the beach in the morning beats shoveling snow!

A bit of snow on Mauna Kea this morning, ice and snow on the road above 12,000ft. Had to drive through a few small drifts (1-2′) to get to the ‘scopes. Fun!
And speaking of Mauna Kea, the Mauna Kea timelapse movies for last Saturday and Sunday are spectacular! I like the “CFHT-C3 (Aimed NNE)” webcam, which is aimed more or less directly toward Hilo:

(Click on the movies for December 19 and 20 to see our winter storm– lots of lightning flashes and swirling clouds.)
Timelapse movies from other Mauna Kea webcams are available here:

your comments on your winter morning sufferings bring to mind certain nonnerbal communication signs learned long ago in college… I’m sure you remember.
Merry Christmas my friend!!
