Kaaawa in January

[text]January is a good month to watch the sunrise, as this batch of photos shows. Just click on this photo for the full gallery.

The sun makes its appearance relatively late, around 7:10 a.m., which means that we can make a leisurely departure from home, walk down and around the corner, then up to the end of the road behind the fire station, and back down to Kamehameha Highway, along past Swanzey Beach Park, and get down to the beach in plenty of time to see the different stages of dawn as they gradually unfold.

Within a couple of months, it will all happen much earlier and then, over the summer, the sun is already up before we even start walking.

So we’re enjoying the season, while it lasts.
