How embarrassing! It’s Feline Friday, and there hasn’t been much contact between camera and cats this week.
How could this happen? I think I was buried in taxes last weekend, and frittered away the time in other ways.
But I did follow Ms Harry (also known as Harriet) around a couple of times.
She’s been having a tough time. She gets picked on. Bullied by the other cats in the household. Somehow she sends out the vibe, “pick on me”.
Two weekends ago, Annie caught up with her in the yard by the front deck. Annie is the smallest of our cats, but she leapt onto Harriet and the fur flew. The two of them were a blur of claws, war screams, and small clouds of cat fur until I got over to the spot and intervened. Toby picks on her. Kili growls and grumbles. Romeo picks on everybody to keep them in line.
This means that I usually feed Harry separately. She gets her own cat dish over by our dining table. Sometimes she gets to finish it. At other times, one of the other cats will leave an unfinished serving of their own and come over to kick Harriet out of her dish. Then she retreats outside onto the deck, and I feed her there.
But somehow Harry has a cheery attitude despite all the aggravation.
She’s on the kitchen counter now hoping for a little lick of margarine to top off her morning. The other cats are already back to sleep, so she’s free to move around a bit.
In any case, just click on Harry’s photo for a few more in honor of Feline Friday.

Ms. Harry has the right attitude!
Couldn’t help having flashes of that tragic bullying story in my head while reading this though.
What a beautiful cat!!! I feel sorry for her, though.
What are those pretty flowers on the ground in the background of the top photo? They are so pretty! Have you ever considered doing a garden post? I would love to see what kinds of things you have growing!
In Hawaii, they are known as Plumeria. Elsewhere, I understand they are called Frangipani.
Love those “cats in the rough” pictures, Ian.
interesting… so i guess eating somehow equals dominance? are your fattest cats closer to the top of the pecking order? maybe that’s why us humans want to eat and be fat… so we can be top cat!
