Your mother is remarkable and looks much younger than her years. She is in such good shape! My MIL, also named Helen, was not nearly as hale and hearty as that at her age. She lived to age 97.
I can’t imagine trying to remember things across such a long stretch of time. Especially about things I did with my kids, for some reason. Just to busy to commit things to memory, I guess!
Happy Birthday!
Dear Ian- your mother is quite wonderful- she looks great and her memory so sharp. I wish her a hau’oli la hanau and many happy returns.
I have had the pleasure of lunching at the Academy many times, and I remember, before the renovations, that volunteers cooked and served the meals. Once, when my husband had not finished his main course, he was chided by the elderly server that he could not have dessert until he cleaned his plate! He complied, and got his brownie!
Ian,
We did not get to meet you when we visited Hawaii several years ago, but your mother and Bonnie provided so much assistance and guidance while we were there. Your mother is a wealth of information about everything Hawaiian. Her guidance at the Academy was wonderful. She is a most delightful woman; it was wonderful to hear her voice again.
Ian, I enjoyed this video so very much. Your mother is really quite remarkable. Happy birthday, Helen!

Wonderful video of a fine, wise lady. I very much enjoyed your mother’s birthday & your questions and her answers. Simply put…lovely!
