We lost another one of our favorite morning dogs this week.
Ms. Lehua died following a very short illness, apparently of natural complications of old age. She was 14.
Lehua was one of the dogs we pass and interact with every morning. And, yes, she did enjoy getting those dog biscuits.
We bonded with her several years ago when she was lured up towards our house by one of Kaaawa’s handsome, roaming dogs that lived around the corner from us.
Once, twice, then three times she crossed the highway and came up the hill to hang out, and each time we managed to retrieve her and get her back home. She seemed to appreciate our concern for her, and we became good friends.
We are certainly going to miss her.
