Have I been neglecting the dogs of the morning?

It appears so. I just checked back through the past month. The cats appear here weekly. The dogs…maybe once a month. Perhaps its fair, since the cats are part of our household, while the dogs…are part of our daily walks. We’re always happy to see them, but we don’t do any of the heavy lifting of dog care. On the other hand, we do cheer up their mornings! It’s indirect, of course. When they see us coming, they know a dog biscuit is on the way. Cheap thrills.

In any case, this is Mr. Skate. He lives at the corner of our small road, just a few houses away. He apparently watches and listens for us in the morning. If he’s in the house and thinks we’re coming, he whines until a door is opened. If he’s in the yard, he sits in the far corner, behind the fence, and when he finally sees us, he launches himself at full speed back to the garage, where he sits and waits for me.
