Yes, Romeo did finally show up yesterday morning. It was just around 9 a.m. when he strolled into the living room, a little worse for wear.
He was limping, and his fur was disrupted in spots where, I’m guessing, the opposing cat’s claws or teeth made contact. But no major visible injuries. He was just tired and beat up.
I think he had taken refuge in some as-yet undiscovered (by humans) hidey-hole somewhere in our house, although I thought I had searched every possible place.
Prescription: Antibiotics and rest.
We went into lock-down mode. The cat door was blocked, sliding doors closed. Cats inside would be staying inside for the rest of the day. In the end, we kept them in overnight as well.
Romeo is doing okay. He went from limp to stiff and a bit tender.
And we’ll round them all up at night for at least a few days to try and keep him out of further trouble.
The next time he’s missing but could be hiding somewhere in the house, I’ll try opening a can of cat food and see if he reappears.

So glad he’s home and yes, they sure can find impossible places…I once hunted and finally found one of my cats in a box WITH a lid..not sure how he got it off to get INTO the box OR how he got it back on. Slithered in I suppose…they can be amazing!
Yea, a happy ending. Everyone’s grounded for a month. No more fighting, peace on earth.
Welcome back, Romeo.
Tiny change of subject: We are ready once again to adopt a dog needing a new home. The only extra requirement besides being in reasonably good health, neutered, and house-trained is that s/he must be used to being bossed around by cats.
Fortunately, your referral a couple of months ago about the cat “opening” in our household turned out well for da two kitties. They did find a new home , but not with us.
We adopted a wonderful cat from the Humane Society instead in early October. BTW – it has a holiday promotion going on now. Until December 25, folks can name their own price which still includes all the fringe benefits plus Old Futs can adopt a kitty fo’ free!
