Home for the holidays

Our flight landed about 10 p.m. last night. Unfortunately, our luggage wasn’t on it. Both bags were apparently back in Los Angeles, where we had a combination of a tight connection and a slightly late arriving flight. We did, however, get upgraded to first class from Los Angeles to Honolulu, which eased the pain somewhat.

I should say that while our flights were full, the airports were not nearly as overwhelmed with holiday travelers as we expected.

The home cats were fine when we finally arrived in Kaaawa, although we didn’t see Ms. Annie until this morning.

Later today, we’ll go to the vet and pick up Duke and Silverman, who were under medical care to be sure that they got their insulin shots while we were gone. That safety and convenience won’t come cheap, I’m afraid.

Looking back on this trip. I caught a cold soon after arriving and took it through all the stages, from scratchy throat to running nose to fever and congested chest. That wasn’t fun. But the worst thing is that my Canon S90 camera battery apparently was knocked out by the cold and would no longer hold a charge, although it had been functioning very well before the trip.

It was great to see our friends and their twin girls, and to catch up with the feeling of winter (although, frankly, you can hold the winter). I guess very cold weather isn’t my thing.

Sorry to hear about your airplane cold – am never sure if it comes from the plane’s air circulating system or from being packed into several containers with hundreds of other people for five or six hours or from being stuck in airports with snorking & snuffling sickos.

Sorry to have missed your cat comments, but I only listen to the radio when I’m driving around. Is it available on the local website?

Give your kitties a hug from Pohina, Cassie, and Boots who are taking their early mid-morning naps to generate enough energy for their mid nid-morning naps.

We’re on our way out to Aloha Stadium in a little bit to set up the recycling systems at various tail-gates before heading off to the one we always attend. Go Warriors!!!

Drive safely and defensively everyone. It’s a lo-o-o-ng weekend and stupid – and drunk – people will be on the road.
