Mr. Duke is pleased to welcome you to the first Feline Friday of 2011.
It’s been cold this week around the island. In Kaaawa, temperatures dropped into the low 60s. Mainland folks have to remember. If it’s 60 outside, it’s likely about the same temperature in our house. If the wind’s blowing, it’s blowing through our living room. And cats, been natural heat seekers, have been having to test their ingenuity.
Annie is apparently the smartest of the cats. She discovered that the Oceanic Cable box is nice and warm, and so she has been curling up on it every night. Ms. Wally has piled herself into a basket of clean clothes that didn’t manage to get put away before she found them. Duke, who has a thick fur coat, has been content with a chair or a towel on the counter. Actually, he seized the towel from Silverman, who had been staking it out for days. So Silverman ended up on the chair that Annie vacated in favor of the cable box. Musical chairs in the cat world!
In any case, just click on Duke’s photo to see the rest of this Friday’s lovely felines.

The last couple of nights have definitely been Three Cat Nights. At least one will even go under the cover and warm up the cool sheets.
Our Bikini has also taken to the top of the cable box. Our only problem is that she leaves a paw or her tail over the spot that picks up the remote control signal. At night, she prefers between my wife’s legs (Stephanie sleeps on her back), and starting with the late Trip, all three of the cats we’ve had have spent overnights there. And yes, both Bikini and Tikit will crawl under the covers with you, especially if the bed is half-empty.
