Thanks to Pat for letting us know about the Public Utility Commission’s scheduled hearing in Honolulu on the Aina Koa Pono proposal.
It’s set for Thursday evening, 6-8:30 p.m., in PUC Hearing Room B-3 (465 S. King Street). If you want more, you’ll have to find the hearing notice.
But let’s say that you were interested, and wanted to find out about it.
You might start at the PUC website, which I did this morning.
On the main entry page for the PUC, there’s no mention of this hearing, or any hearings.
There is a link to a calendar of hearing notices, with the notation, “Visit the DMS Calendar to see upcoming hearing notices.”
Okay. Click there, and you get to a calendar. There is a cryptic entry on Thursday:
6:00 P.M. Dkt. 2011-0005; HELCO/HECO/MECO; Public Hearing
And here’s what you get if you click on that event:

Pretty cryptic, for sure. Is that the best they can do? It seems that they operate on the self-fulfilling prophesy, assuming that only insiders are interested, and publishing information that only makes sense to insiders.
In any case, I can’t get to a 6 p.m. hearing, since I have to be in Kaaawa to give insulin shots to our two diabetic cats. Hopefully other readers might be able to attend a provide some insight on what transpires.

i’ll be there. I’ll shoot you my notes if there’s anything interesting. Or just email Henry Curtis.
Will be there as well. Also, I understand that scribes from two other publications will be there as well as someone from one of television stations.
