Feline Friday: Only the brave

I hope to return a little later this morning with a “G” rated Feline Friday gallery, but first….

giftedPlease do not click on this photo unless you have read the short explanation that follows and know what you are getting into.

Remember the photo from last week’s Feline Friday? It shows Meda sitting at our dining table just a minute or so after Ms. Annie delivered a holiday gift in the form of a freshly harvested rat. I had carefully cropped the rat out of the picture to spare reader’s sensibilities, a decision which brought more than a few boos and several requests to show the goods.

So, in response to all the comments and emails, I’m making available an uncensored version, delivered in the electronic version of a plain brown paper bag. Click on the photo above, and you’ll see the real goods.

When I got up to use the facility a little before 3 a.m. this morning, I found another present from Annie on the floor. Luckily I turned on the light first, which avoided some unpleasantness. I retrieved a tape measure and got a photo before taking the walk out into the back yard to dispose of the carcass.

If you’re really interested, ask to see more.

That new version with Meda is perfect! (Or purrfect, depending on your perspective.) It tells the whole story.
The other pic … ugh. 🙂

I’m sure that the Kailua rat/mice population has painted a visible-only-to-them Big Red X on the front of our house as we have never had one of them delivered to us.

However, our cats deliver gift bird presents – oftrn still alive and sitting on the light fixtures when we come home.

    She is a good girl!

You folks should be happy with the small gifts they bring to you this Christmas.

Your cats are very thoughtful and appreciative of the care you extend to them. They are just reciprocating at this joyous time of year!

    Loomis:

Cats don’t have JOBS! It is their nature.

If mankind wasn’t so stupid, they wouldn’t have killed off cats as devil’s pet during the dark ages and brought the plague born by rats to wipe out one-third of Europe.

Here’s something interesting, Russell. The idea that wiping out cats brought about the plague (due to a growth in the population of flea-infested rats) is now believed to be a myth by those who’ve studied it. For one thing, cats carry fleas, too.
