I’m betting that most of you aren’t interested in the blood pressure boost delivered by political commentary on the day before Christmas, so I’m not even going to consider going there today.
Instead, here are a few goodies. First, a few pictures from our walk at dawn here in Kaaawa. Just click on the photo below to see today’s selection.
Then there are the dogs. It’s been a while since I last shared pictures of our many canine friends. Duke and Handsome introduce today’s holiday dogs. Duke is the big guy closest to the camera. Would you be surprised to learn that “alpha dog” honors go to Mr. Handsome, the little guy with an attitude?
Today’s collection of dogs also includes a couple that appear for the first time, Maka and Zeno.

Yes, we do.
It’s funny to be checking out of Costco with our big box of dog biscuits, and mentioning that we don’t even have a dog at home.
Sometimes we even alter our route to cut down the number of dogs that we pass.
I hate to risk exacerbating any of your readers’ winter solstice affective disorders, but I do want to call attention to two recent stories in the New York Times:
1) The story of Van Nath, a survivor of Cambodia’s killing fields, who helped create Cambodia’s genocide museum on the site of the Khmer Rouge’s notorious Security Prison 21 (S-21), where Van Nath himself had been imprisoned and tortured. It’s a powerful story.
