During the winter, Hawaii’s rainy season, the sun comes up a little later and we’re able to get down to the beach before the sun appears. That makes for great sunrise photos.
When the seasons change and the sun comes up much earlier, we miss much of the sunrise colors.
But there’s a tradeoff. During this half of the year, camera meets dogs. And so do you!
So please meeting some of our canine friends in Kaaawa. We haven’t seen Fisher and Shylo on the beach in a while, so Sunday was quite a treat for all of us.
Both dogs are getting along in years, and their race down the beach to greet us was slower than it used to be. But watch them leaping into the water to retrieve whatever’s thrown and you forget that they’re aging (like all of us).

Great shot of some friendly (and ready for biscuits?) pooches!
Ipo is a just a sweetheart! Fisher and Shylo are some loopy, lovable, Labs. And it’s no surprise that Kea, who appears to be a Jack Russel terrier, is an escape artist. I’ve had several and almost nothing will hold them, one reason why (believe it or not) they are one of the most abandoned/surrendered breeds.
