That was just one of the tributes to Mr. Silverman in a little sympathy card from the folks at VCA Animal Hospital in Kaneohe.
Silverman was one of our diabetic cats, and he lived at VCA (getting medical supervision) anytime we were traveling in the past few years. At home, he would do a little purr mixed with a small meow, but while boarding at VCA, he turned that into a trademarked cry. Not unhappy, just seeking attention, I think. It worked. We would pick him up after returning from a trip and there would always be VCA staff, from vet techs up through vets, each trying to do the best imitation of his unusual talkativeness.
So we weren’t surprised by the little notes on the card.
“I’ll miss his adorable burble-meow.”
“Silverman was the coolest kitty…”
“A unique & memorable talker…”
“We will miss Silverman and the way he would talk story.”
Yup. We miss him too.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful note. It tells the story. Silverman, Meda and you must have been really special too.
If anyone had told me a cat”talked” five years ago I would have been in full doubt of the sanity ofthe human speaker,
Today I am believer. Rusty (the smartest cat I have known ever) was obtained from Big Island’s Puna pound with his now gone sister. He is cheerful, demanding and just plain expressive — to a near fault at times.
So I believe your moving Silverman stories. I know you miss him. And enjoy those wonderful
memories he left with you.
That is a very fine photograph of Silverman!
Now it’s all beginning to make sense… Jewish cat named Silverman?”… cool cool kitty? – Talk about the Cat from New Your City…
VCA in KANEOHE is THE BEST. I just put my dog down 2 weeks ago, and everyone there was SO nice. There are no words to explain how nice they have been.
