It’s a little over three weeks since the successful intervention that pulled Small Dog from the jaws of Big Dog without life-threatening injuries, but unfortunately left me with a chewed hand and an involuntarily shortened finger.
This week, Small Dog returned to the beach in Kaaawa for the first time since the incident. We just happened to be along that stretch of beach at the same time and got to celebrate her reappearance.

She’s wearing the harness that interfered with Big Dog’s bite and eventually created an opening to pull Small Dog to safety.
On this morning, she was a bit nervous, but I couldn’t tell whether it was the memory of the attack or simply the waves that periodically washed almost up to where she was standing.
In any case, it was a nice moment worth sharing.

Oh, happy day! Good news, indeed.
Thank you Ian for saving her.
She’s a cutie! Terriers tend to be higher strung so maybe that was what you were seeing.
What a beautiful dog. And you are her hero. And if she is the “small” dog, I can’t imagine how big is the “big” DOG.
I hate to say this, but she’s probably afraid of you and Meda. Last time she saw you, she was attacked.
Don’t take it personally. It’s simple association.
