Official First Day Cover: Missouri School of Journalism celebrates #50

The year was 1958.

The University of Missouri School of Journalism, the mother ship for quite a few Hawaii reporters, marked its 50th Anniversary with a commemorative envelope carrying a 4 cent “Freedom of the Press” stamp.

I found this “first day cover” in one of three stamp albums from the collection of Carey D. Miller, the noted nutritionist who built the University of Hawaii’s Home Economics program.

Anyway, for those who enjoy such things, here it is.

Thanks for posting this cover. Not only is the postmark perfectly inked, it also includes time of day! Any other photogenic treasures in those three albums?

I went by the old Mizzou campus a couple of years ago. (I graduated in ’76!) No changes at the daily paper, but there was a live Twitter feed on the quad.
