Romeo comes out as a 15-pound lap cat!

Feline FridayMr. Romeo insisted on climbing into my lap this morning as I sat down for a cup of coffee and a bit of feline friday blogging. You can see that he had a pretty determined look on his face, and was not about to take “no” for an answer. He has a good technique. First he circles the room, meowing loudly. That’s his warm-up. Then he comes and stands next to my chair, and again cries loudly. Step 3–while continuing to cry loudly, reach up and hook a sharp claw (or more) into the upholstered corner of the chair. I pry the claw out as gently as possible. Then comes Step 4: Cry loudly, reach up, insert same claw(s) into human leg, stretch lazily, ignore loud cry from person. At this point, I reach down and pick him up in self defense. Drop the large cat into my lap. He quickly curls into position and is down in the lap. Mission accomplished.

And so it goes on the last Feline Friday in March.

Your description made me chuckle. I have had a similar experience with claw in leg/cat ignoring loud cry from human who feeds her. And to prove I looked at all the pampered cat photos for today, your descriptive title for the cats in the clothes basket ended up under all of their photos. 🙂

oi? what happened to your captions? nobody noticed they are all the same laundry basket thing? Curious what you had to say about the cats on the placemats. Frankly, you’re a bad role model for cat owners.

I agree. There are two places our cats are absolutely not allowed. Those are the dining room table and the kitchen counters. They learn that lesson early and well. Otherwise they pretty much go where they want.

I have a 15 lb. long haired tabby who waits for me to sit down at night in my reading spot. He immediately gets in my lap, turns around once, puts his head down and is out. As a result of trying to manage a book under the reading lamp and getting back and neck aches, he caused me to get a Kindle, which I can perch over the top of him and read comfortably. I am also familiar with the claws attention getter.
