Feline Friday: A place at the table

A place at the tableRomeo, Kili, and Toby joined forces to provide a good illustration of the balance of power in our house. The cats have definitely earned a place at the table. If they get too pushy, they are invited off the playing field and onto the floor. Continued fussing summons the dreaded squirt bottle. Luckily, that doesn’t happen to often. You’ll notice that all three of the cats are facing away from where we are, as if averting their gaze would also hide their presence.

Believe it or not, Romeo isn’t a regular on the table. He’s far more likely to mew around my chair and repeatedly jump up into my lap to establish his right to be in the area. But he usually avoids the next step up onto the table itself.

I don’t remember what it was about this meal that brought out his inner lion.

The cats had a pretty good week. Wally has been cooperating and eating. Kill has been a little “down,” so I’m watching her carefully. Romeo got to do a couple of boundary patrols, which seem to cheer him up. And Ms. Annie spent one night outside when we forgot to round her up.

All in all, a not-untypical week.
