It’s been our first week without Ms. Harry. We’ve managed. It’s sad, and there’s no avoiding the grief. But we go on.

The cats have had their attention diverted elsewhere by the persistent Mr. Lumber, shown here. He’s been hanging around a lot, which has meant our cats spent the week inside. We try not to let them meet because Romeo wants to defend his territory from the “intruder,” while Lumber seems to feel he would like to get to know the other cats. He and Romeo have fought repeatedly, running up our vet bills until we declared that our cats would stay inside. Now Lumber’s been emboldened, and he’s started coming up to the doors and looking in longingly. Of course, this sets Romeo off.

Here’s one little example.

Meanwhile, in the house, we still have six cats. This week, they are all doing fine. And all made it into the photos.
