What’s wrong with this picture?

I ended up removing this photo from yesterday’s Feline Friday gallery. Can you see what’s wrong?

You may have to click on the photo and examine the larger version.

I was trying for an afternoon nap, but Duke had other ideas. He wanted attention, and made sure that I knew it. Ms. Kili was waiting in the wings. So I just picked up my phone and captured the moment.

A Feline Friday reject

The problem was the cat hair.

It looks like there was cat hair on the camera lens, and it’s visible on Duke’s nose and eye.

At first I thought it was on the computer screen. But, no such luck.

But this was taken with an iPhone. How did that tiny little camera lens on the back of the iPhone show all that random cat hair? If it were on the lens, wouldn’t the individual hairs look huge?

Then it came to me. It was actually taken with the back-facing camera, the one that turns the iPhone into a selfie powerhouse. And instead of a small lens, that camera apparently just saves whatever is on the screen, including the shrinking of loose cat debris that floats around our house and lands on computer screens, phones, counters, floors, and everywhere else you can imagine. I had been trying to include myself in the picture, but when that proved difficult, I just snapped a couple of pictures without changing back to the front-facing camera mode.

Mysterious cat hair explained!

It’s a good picture of Duke if you bracket the annoying addition.
