It’s May Day, and it’s also Feline Friday. And add to that it’s the day after Duke’s 13th birthday. That’s right, he’s now officially a teenager. We didn’t do anything special for his birthday, except that I brought the comb out a few times. He loves to be combed and brushed, any time, anywhere. He’s got such thick fur, the ends up with mega hairballs if we don’t keep brushing.
Romeo was able to go out two mornings, and Lumber of nearby on at least one of them. Luckily, as far as I can tell, there wasn’t any fighting. I would like to think they’ve worked out the territorial thing, but I seriously doubt it. I think we were all just lucky.
If you’ve been following the saga, you may have figured out that our effort to accustom the cats to being indoor cats, rather than free-roaming indoor-outdoor cats, has been in anticipation of our upcoming move from Kaaawa to Kahala.
They’re not totally happy with the 100% inside thing, but they’ve adapted pretty well. The test is coming up soon.

Thought I’d pass on a suggestion I heard when rehoming a cat…because you have so many it might work well. IF you are going to use some of your mom’s furniture, blankets, towels, etc. you might consider bringing a few pieces to Kaaawa and placing them in separate areas giving the cats time to adjust to the scents of the new house. Could help a lot in the adjustment you want to be smooth.
