I’m the first to admit that Kahala is not Kaaawa. When we’re on the back deck of our new-old house, we are no longer in the shadow of the mountains and, at the same time, enjoying a view of the ocean, as we were in Kaaawa. That was very special.

But Kahala isn’t without its charms. The light in our back yard on Friday afternoon reminded me that it has its own special character. It looks inward, rather than outward towards the horizon. It gathers the light and draws attention to details.

So I decided to share taste of it.

Just click on the photo for a small peek at the pleasures of our back yard. I can attest that it’s extremely relax to end the day sitting on the deck in the late afternoon, with the light playing around the edges, a glass of wine in front of you, and a warm breeze whispering past.

I’m still struggling with replanting the parts of the yard which didn’t fare well during the extended renovations. That’s going to take me a while, I’m afraid.
