February’s Final Feline Friday!

RomeoRomeo welcomes you to the final Feline Friday of the month.

He was occupying my lap when I snapped this and several other pictures. You know, extend the arm, try to generally aim in his direction, and then press the shutter button with a strange backwards, over the top of the camera move, trying not to shake the camera too much in the process. My aim wasn’t perfect, but good enough.

Romeo’s on my mind because he has developed a nasty bit of attention getting behavior. When he’s a little bored, or out of sorts, or just craving a bit of extra human interaction, he aims for my legs and feet, considering them fair game. Perhaps a bit of wrestling, claws extended. Or a little “love bite,” which from my end just feels like a cat bite. Ouch!

I can shoo him off, but that just becomes part of the game. Sometimes he wants to be picked up and plopped in my lap for a bit of R&R. Sometimes he wants to know when the next meal is going to be served. Sometimes he’s just being naughty.

The solution? The evil All Purpose Sprayer filled with plain water. He doesn’t like to see it come out, and I don’t really like to use it. But all too often he presses his point and forces me to take the sprayer route.

He has been a little better since getting his latest round of cat toys. He’ll go off on his own to play, excitedly swatting the toy into hard to get at places, then jumping and thumping happily for several minutes before taking a break. I’ve been finding the toy is strange places, then putting it back into play.

I’m sure we’ll work it out, and then those scratches on my ankles will maybe stop stinging.

I liked the two photos of Mr. Romeo, casting his steady gaze. A very interesting photo of Ms. Annie–a big swirl of fur!
