Nora is looking for a good home. She’s about six years old, and weighs in at twelve and a half pounds. She’s always been an indoor cat, and is looking for a home where she can stay indoors.

I’m not sure whether her coloring would be called a calico or a tortoise shell cat, but one thing for sure is that she’s a beauty.

Here’s her story.

Both of her two human companions passed away in the last year, leaving Nora an orphan.

She’s currently living in the house of her deceased people, taken care of by a relative who visits daily to care for her.

“Nora is doing okay, but she is very lonesome being in that house all by herself,” he wrote in an email.

Nora is spayed, had a vet checkup last month, and is up to date on her shots and annual checkup.

Here’s her caretaker’s description:

Nora lived as an only cat with two adults in a single family home that has had cats in the house since 1973. I’m using the past tense because both adults passed away within the last year.

Nora is currently alone in the house and I, a big-dog person, go to visit her every afternoon to clean her litter pan, and give her clean water and food. When I get there, I open the garage door to enter the house. Nora starts meowing over and over as soon as the garage door is opened. She places herself inside the entrance to the family room and is rolling around on the carpet when I open the door. She is waiting for me to massage her neck, brush her, and otherwise play with her.

Nora has never tried to bite or scratch me. When I call her, she answers with a ‘meow’: “Nora” – ‘Meow’, “Nora” – ‘Meow’, over and over again. Dogs pay attention, but I didn’t know cats did that too. She usually comes when called. Usually. She likes to be touched and brushed and will push her nose under my hand if she feels I am not paying enough attention to her. She follows me around the house. She does not get underfoot when I am walking, but she likes to be in the same room or near the doorway to ensure she sees me when I come out of the room. Nora likes to cuddle on the sofa. When I sit on the sofa, she will climb up and find a suitable place for herself in my lap. If I don’t move for a while, she will nap in my lap.
