The sun was just coming up when we got down the block and crossed the street to Waialae Beach Park. I was getting my camera set as we walked the long concrete path to the beach.

And this was the scene. Koko Crater and Koko Head in the distance. On a clear day, Molokai is visible to the right. But it hasn’t been that clear in a while.

You can perhaps understand why we continue to get up early in order to get to the beach for the sunrise. Of course, we also want to see our friends and their dogs. But dawn is a reward in and of itself.
