Waiting for Madeline

Here we are again, waiting to see whether Tropical Storm Madeline and Hurricane Lester are going to be wandering through the neighborhood over the next week.

Recent forecasts put both trajectories near the islands, and now its all dependent on the way the storms wobble over the next few days.

I usually rely on the Weather Underground view of hurricane and storm activity, which gives a pretty good summary.

Anyway, this was a view of the slightly threatening weather early this morning viewed from Waialae Beach Park.

Here in Hilo this little family unit is waiting–and wondering: Will Madeline make the predicted turn to the South? What do we need to do to secure our premises against the the onslaught of the potentially heavy winds?

So this Saturday might not be the best weather to scatter ashes at Malaekahana Bay. I don’t think we can scuttle the plans, but maybe not as big of a paddle out as anticipated. Thank you for the links to both weather sites. We will be watching closely. Zig, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Don’t bother with taping your plate glass windows. The high humidity will not allow the tape to stick to the windows.
