The photo is stamped January 1960, although it could have been developed in January but actually taken earlier.

It shows my mother, Helen Yonge Lind, and three good friends. I think they attended the University of Hawaii at the same time, although some connections went back further.

From left to right: Tamar (Mookini) Tavares, who graduated from Kamehameha School for Girls with my mother in the Class of 1931; Libana (Furtado) Crabb, who was on the first University of Hawaii swim team with my mother; Helen Yonge Lind; Irmgard (Farden) Aluli, who I think graduated from UH a year or two before my mom, and later became a music legend.
