I don’t think this scene has changed much in the last 47 years.
It shows Palolo Valley from the corner of 9th Ave and Waialae Ave, with 9th continuing right up the valley.
Taken from what was then known as the Circle Jade Apartments, the round building on 9th Avenue.
The businesses along Waialae are almost all different, with a couple of exceptions. But visually, I’m guessing it’s pretty much unchanged.

Do you have a photo which would be just to the left of the posted photo? Supposedly on the makai-ewa corner of Waialae and Nineth Aves where Town Resturant is now, used to be the site of SUNSET DRIVE-IN (1933), said to be Honolulu’s FIRST ‘real’ Drive-In. It might be where the Aloha Lounge now sits. I have a photo of the original facade of the Sunset Drive-In. Anyone else remember such a time and place?
