Romeo & Toby on this Feline Friday

Romeo and Toby got more time with the camera this week, at least based on these results! Duke and Annie barely squeaked in.

It’s been a relatively uneventful week. I’ve had to call for help to trim Toby’s claws, since he puts up such a fuss. Duke’s been stretching himself, and I’m trying to find the cause. Just another week with our Kahala cats.

When we lived in Kaaawa, things would often be more exciting. This week I ran across an old photo, probably taken somewhere around 2010 or so. It’s a crime scene photo of a rat brought into the house through the cat door and deposited on the floor of my bathroom. The photo includes a tape measure next to the deceased. The rat measured somewhere between 6 and 7 inches, and the tail was a similar length. And the ratter was Ms. Annie, our tiniest cat. She was a fierce and fearless huntress. She roamed the undeveloped 4-acre lot in front of us, and routinely brought me back presents of the rodent variety, which were left on the bathroom floor or in the shower. Sometimes they were nibbled on. Sometimes not.

Now that Annie and the others are strictly indoor Kahala cats, she’s no longer in the hunting game. I’m sure she misses it, but I’m happy to have them present and accounted for. I no longer have to sorry about unexcused cat absences, and those periods of waiting and wondering whether something bad had happened to one or another of our cats.

Anyway…Click below to see all of this week’s felines.
