Mr. Toby welcomes you to another Feline Friday.
He’s had a rough week.
Early in the week, we had to get help from our cat sitter to successfully trip Toby’s claws. He had one fat gnarly claw that had already curled back around and was starting to injure his paw. Since he gets crazy when I try to trim those claws, we had to call in an expert. Luckily, our cat sitter, an experienced vet tech, was able to assist.
She taught me a hold to control Toby while he was getting trimmed without my being injured in the process, which is going to be very useful going forward.
Then a day or so later, we noticed Toby going from litter box to litter box trying to pee without much success. It’s a classic symptom of a urinary infection. So Toby had to get stuffed in a carrier for a ride to the vet in Hawaii Kai. We left with antibiotics for two weeks, and a new bag of pill pockets. These are supposed to be yummy treats that you hide the pill in. Most of our cats love them, and I thought Toby did too. But no such luck. He wasn’t the least bit interested in a pill pocket, with or without pill.
It took a bit of experimentation, but it turns out that leftover meat of some kind, partially chewed by your’s truly, is far better than a pill pocket. He’s snarfed down pills for the past two days, and hopefully we’ll get through the two weeks before he figures out the pills are hidden in those little treats of meat.
So Toby has made it through the long week. No wonder he’s been napping a lot over the past day or two!

Poor TOBY…the guy isn’t used to such drama. Now he can calmly go about recovery without any fanfare. *G*
Now you know what it’s like to be a mama bird!
Can’t fool around with UTIs. My Sophia is now on SO wet and urinary care dry food for the rest of her life.
