Yes, it’s Feline Friday.

This was a long week for Toby, his second week of antibiotics.

It was quickly apparent that those fancy Pill Pockets that are supposed to disguise pills for finicky cats would not work at all with Toby. He wouldn’t even look at the plain Pill Pocket, sans pill, that I tried to warm up his palate with.

So we were reduced to saving scraps of meat, or even better, bits of fat. Chew one a bit, add some yummy fat, stick the pill inside, mold everything together, then drop down in front of a hungry Toby before offering any other food. These yummy little globs of meat did the trick. Once or twice, I had to retrieve a pill that was spit out onto the floor, and try again. I don’t think I had to abandon the effort any time this week, which is quite good.

The antibiotics were to clear up a urinary infection, and they seem to have done the trick. Toby is feeling better, and no more frequent visits to the litter box. His appetite is good. It looks like we’re past another mini-crisis.
