It’s official. Feline Friday is here once again!
It hasn’t been a great week. Poor Toby has had trouble getting down from his favorite napping spot on our bed in time to reach the litter box. As a result, we’ve had to wash the sheets and bedding several times while coming up with a solution. I know…throwing him off the bed and keeping him off would be a solution. But he doesn’t have many pleasures left, so we’re reluctant to go there. Instead, we’ve tried to protect the bed. First attempt–extra large doggie pads. They sort of worked, but not completely. Then we ordered a waterproof sheet that almost covers the top of the bed. So far, that’s been a success. It had only had to be washed once since it arrived on Tuesday.
Toby’s eye is looking better after a week of ointment. Hopefully that episode is over.
We still battle when it’s time for pills. That’s not fun for me or for Toby, as you can imagine. I’ve decided there is no magic, except perhaps getting cats used to be pilled before they ever need the medication.
Enough of the negative stuff.
Here are the week’s photos of all the cats. Enjoy!

If there Toby has a nice pillow or catbed that he would stay on then you can just cover that is plastic and then put some towels over it. Pee pads are fine, but you could use thick towels too. May work well enough. You could also try gently expressing his bladder before bed.
Ok, for whatever reason you can’t use injectables, at least consider crushing the pills and liquifying them in warm water, then add a bit of sugary syrup, and then get a small syringe and squirt it in his closed mouth through his side teeth. It will be quicker and less stressful for all involved.
Hope that helps!
Hmm, I thought his eye might look a little better by now. Sure it’s not a little viral herpes in his eye? You could add a little lysine to his food and see if it clears up. Won’t hurt, and it tastes ok.
when faced with a similar problem we found purring a couple of cheap vinyl shower curtains on top of the bed (when not in it of course) cut down on the amount of laundering. I also became a fan of waterproof mattress pads ?
Brilliant. Why didn’t we think of the shower curtains!
Make sure the bed is concave though, otherwise the pee will run off in all different directions.
Good advice!
