Cats are natural heat seekers, or at least that’s what we read many years ago. So the cool weather in our Hawaiian winter isn’t a treat for them. To make it worse, the angle of the sun means that we have fewer periods where the sun creates warm spots for cats to sleep in. So when they do appear, there’s competition for those few moments where they can enjoy baking in the sun.

And our remaining three cats are all getting up there in age. Duke will be 16 in a few months, and Romeo is likely about the same age. That translates into something over 80 in human years. Annie is a year younger. We still get some runs across the room, and maybe around the corner and down the hall. But climbing into high spots is only a memory. And sleeping is the most popular sport.
