Feline Friday: After the crash

Duke crashed on Sunday afternoon after his blood glucose dropped to dangerous levels. Luckily we were home, and I recognized the symptoms.

Through the week, I’ve gotten him stabilized, and have kept him under close observation. Glucose testing to make sure he’s within a reasonable range, with adjustments to his insulin shots as necessary. Luckily, he’s proven to be quite resilient!

He pretty much defined the week, although it doesn’t show in this collection of photos.

In any case, here’s your weekly look behind the scenes with the cats that share our home. Just click below to see the week’s pics.

Ian, as the owner of a cat that lived 17 years before succumbing to diabetes, I hope that you are doing the right thing by working so hard to keep your beloved Duke alive and well. Looking back, I wonder if we should have subjected our cat to the insulin routine for so long. Good luck to you.

Duke doesn’t appreciate getting a sharp thing poked into the edge of his ear for glucose testing, and I try to keep it to a minimum. He doesn’t even notice the 2x daily insulin shots. After nine years, it’s all pretty routine for him.
