It was October 2000. The University of Hawaii hosted a dinner honoring its oldest graduates, those who had graduated at least 50 years before.
My mother graduated in 1935, and was one of the very few present that evening what had graduated in 1935 or before.
I recall that she thoroughly enjoyed the evening and wore that UH medal proudly. She had a photo taken with then-UH President Ken Mortimer, and took a lot of time figuring out who was who among the old timers at the dinner.
Meda and I joined my parents for this photo. My parents were 86 at the time. Both lived another decade.

Wonderful photo and memory of your parents. Ken Mortimer was an alumnus of my prep school in Maine, Hebron Academy.
That is mighty fine. She looks radiant.
That is wonderful. I graduated from UH in 1968, and attended a UH class reunion that combined several class years a few years ago. We toured the campus, too.
