Back from Australia

We had a 9=hour flight back to Honolulu on Saturday, and have been getting back into the appropriate time zone for several days now.

I finally managed to get the photos taken on the trip organized, and I’ve posted some of them to give you a sense of the area around Brisbane.

We started at a hotel in Surfers Paradise, a resort area about an hour’s drive south of Brisbane where Meda’s conference was being held. Then we spent three days in Brisbane before heading back home.

Not long enough to dig deep into anything, but just to get a basic impression of the area.

    Aloha, Welcome back.

Hard to go round the world in old age, or even halfway. Leaving comfort behind. You will truly appreciate, fully the world comes to us, in Hawaii. We don’t have to go too it. Contented to relax in our luxurious comforts.

Loved the photos. Impression, everything looked so clean. Do visitors have the same impression of Honolulu, etc? I don’t, living here.

Looking at the photos, I kept thinking to myself “What would HNL be like had we had TRULY visionary leaders that were in it for the citizens and not just for their own self promotion and paying back labor unions and other assorted special interests that put them in office”? But then again the population difference might have been a huge factor. They have a better gene pool of potential leaders to pick from.

I especially thought the at-grade public trams looked quite nice and wonder why we had the elevated, mass grey concrete, steel on steel monstrosity shoved down our throats??

To me, who travelled to Waikiki when I was 8 or so, then went to the Gold Coast when I was 13, I felt like the Gold Coast reminded me a lot of Waikiki – a lot of high rises. It just is missing the Aloha. 🙂

What did you think of the Gold Coast?
