Throwback Thursday: Way back to the 17th century

My mother gave me a copy of this book many years ago. It’s the journal of my direct ancestor in her father’s paternal lineage, James Yonge, born 300 years before my birth. She wanted me to know, even if I didn’t yet understand, the connection directly back to his time.

On an inside front page, she wrote out the ten generations that separated us.

    I’m sure you would be interested in the historical context. On a minor note. The Royal Society was the premier “learned society” having published Newton’s Prinipia Mathematica sparked a scientific revolution that continues into our own The Dutch Wars grew out of the idea that the economy and trade did not grow. There is a television series “War and Plunder”, i found on Amazo Prime streaming, the first show covers the Dutch Wars.
