RIP: Celk, the cat at the Elks Club front door

Celk, the mellow black and white cat that took up residence outside Elks Lodge 616 in Honolulu back in 2003, finally exhausted his nine lives at the end of January 2020. He had been the resident cat for 17 years. A celebration of his long life is being planned for Sunday, March 8.

Here’s a post about him that first appeared here back in August 2017.

He’s the cat at the front door of Elks Lodge 616 in Waikiki. He’s Celk, the mascot and official greeter of visitors to the Elks Club. He was very much in evidence this past Saturday for Member Appreciation Day. And members do greatly appreciate him. Many, but not all, greet him by name as they walk towards the main entrance. I bring cat treats, and I know I’m not the only one. His food dishes are next to the front door, and they are regularly filled.
