Feline Friday makes a slightly tardy appearance this week

It’s still Friday. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

Of course, on the east coast Friday is almost over, but here in Hawaii we’re still a couple of hours from wine o’clock.

My excuse is that Meda had a board meeting via Zoom that lasted four hours, and during that time I couldn’t get to the cabinet where the hard drive with all my photos is stored without disrupting the meeting. So I worked on other things this morning. Then I got into making a large pot of chili, which is on the stove now as its flavors have a chance to meld and mellow.

And finally I got around to the photos.

While looking through recent photos, I discovered something I had missed. The photo below was actually taken back on March 20 for the continuing “Afternoon Cat Nap” series. Back then, I didn’t notice that Romeo’s cat nap photo included a photo bomber!

A black and white cat can be seen outside, peeking up toward the house. Romeo was oblivious to his presence. That was the first and only time I had seen this cat. Until yesterday morning, that is. Thursday morning, about 5:45 a.m. Still twilight. I was the first ready for our morning walk and out the garage door and around the side to the front of the house. And there was the same cat, coming stealthily out from under our house, on his way in my direction. Until he saw me, that is. We both froze. Stared. Then he took off back under the house.

I don’t where where this cat is from. We have only seen an occasional cat come through our yard in the nearly five years that we’ve been back here in Kahala. Up the street a few houses, friends tell us that feral cats come across the stream from the golf course and wander their yards. But here there are houses on both sides of Kealaolu Place that are between us and the golf course. In any case, even he does wander through here, hopefully he’ll get a good meal if another rat decides to settle under the house.

So just click on the photo of Romeo and the wandering cat to see the rest of our felines.
