Duke was one of three kittens born on April 30, 2002, in the small office I maintained at that time on the edge of Waikiki.

So yesterday was his 18th birthday!

I had known the day was quickly approaching, but when it finally arrived I wasn’t prepared. Then late in the afternoon a reader left a comment saying, simply, “Happy Birthday Mr. Duke!”
