Step right up, Feline Friday is here!

Yup. It my weekly over-sharing of the behind-the-scenes doings in our feline-centric hold. The Romeo, Duke, and Annie show has made it through another week.

It’s not easy these days. Each of our three elderly cats is dealing with the decline that comes with age and an array of chronic maladies. These are common in older cats, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with up close and personal.

Anyway, they’ve made it through another week. Back in January, I was pretty sure Annie wouldn’t make it past the end of the month. She’s demonstrated her mettle over the next four months, but the clock is still ticking.

Duke’s survived ten years of diabetes, which has taken most of his eyesight, all of his teeth, and he’s still here. And Romeo, apart from chronic kidney issues, appears to have some other things going on which aren’t worth diagnosing because, at his age, there’s no treatment.

But oh, how they all love those afternoon naps in the sun!

Ever since I buried my beautiful, faithful 20-year-old Camo a few years back, Feline Friday has been like a lifeline. Mahalo nui.

Please keep Feline Friday coming! I so enjoy these photos and news about these cats who are still enjoying life despite the ailments of age. I know how that is; we have a 15 year-old doggie who recovered from a recent life-saving bladder stone operation. He’s doing well but has other infirmities of age… can’t see or hear well, ‘old dog liver’ and some nerve issue in the back legs. But he isn’t in pain and still loves his walks and his food.
