It has been five weeks since we brought The-Cat-Now-Known-As-Kali into our house, bringing our cat census back to two.

During Week Five, she officially became a cat of this house.

Week 1: Alone in her safe room with the door closed. It was a victory to see that she came out from under the futon at night, even if she spent most of her time hiding under there.

Week 2: Still in her safe room. She slowly started including us in her world. I took the lead, spending the time to coax her out from hiding.

Week 3: At night, we opened to door to her safe roon and Kali got to come out and explore the rest of the house on her own terms.

Week 4: Supervised interactions with Romeo were a little stressful, but her hissy fits caused no damage.

Week 5: Kali just blossomed and her energy now fills the house. She now knows Romeo is not a threat, although she still gives him an occasional warning. And she is the sweetest, as you’ll see in these photos from the past week.
