Here’s an update for Feline Friday.
Yesterday marked the end of Kali’s second month since relocating from Aiea Heights to our cozy little house in Kahala. In some ways, it seems a lot longer than eight weeks. Some of those weeks were filled with tension and uncertainty, and just seemed to take forever to get through. Others zipped right along, at least as zippy as things can be during this stretch of covid-related restrictions.
But…After eight weeks, two full months, Kali has pretty much settled in and everything seems to be settling down. Kali and Romeo are in the “fine tuning” stage of their relationship. This week I witnessed Kali give Romeo a ceremonial head bump. It was one of those close encounters that could have gone either way. In weeks past, Kali would probably have inched closed to Romeo, then have second thoughts and let him have it with a fast paw to the face. But this time it went as we have hoped. She approached slowly and cautiously, gave him a couple of good sniffs, and then lowered her head and stepped forward to make contact with his. He reciprocated and accepted her offering. Then she took a step or two back, pivoted to the side, and off she went across the room. It was over with a few seconds, but it was, in my view, huge! Really!
Anyway, here we go, a few photos from Ms. Kali’s 8th week.

I guess playing the hard to get ceremonial do’se’do is not limited to humans.
The last photo is a keeper!! She’s queen of her realm!
You betcha!!
These are Hawaiian cats, so of course they greet by doing the honi.
Hooray!
The cat universe is better now!
