“The ball is rolling”

The best comment regarding Mr. Marbles came from Dwane Goodell, a friend who dates back to our high school days and recently became a Facebook friend.

He wrote:

As I read the article, I had to chuckle. It’s totally obvious to me that your inner cat person already has Mr. Marbles living at your house. The “rational adult” on the committee that lives in your head may not be ready to acknowledge it, but the rest of the members have voted and the meeting has been adjourned.

Three short sentences, and he got it exactly right!

We quickly thought of all the problems bringing another outside cat inside is likely to cause, and how they each issue we run into might play out. But while that rational thought was going on at one level, the real vote had already been taken at another level. We knew that we at least have to try to fold Marbles into our household. We hope he’s ready to move into the luxury of a home of his own.

So I sent off a text message Monday morning saying we’re ready to try. A quick reply was received.

Good morning Ian, This is really good news!!

I’ll get the ball rolling and keep you updated.

And by early afternoon, an update.

The ball is rolling. We’ll try to catch him Wednesday night at the heiau.

So, hopefully, tonight’s the night! Maybe more news by tomorrow morning.

No cats allowed where I now live, so I happily live vicariously through your good cat fortune! I was thrilled to read that Mr. Marbles has (hopefully) found his forever home with o’hana already in residence! Keep us posted Ian!

Hehehe… I knew it. You couldn’t help yourself, Ian. As soon as you heard that he was possibly her son, your heartstrings already were plucked. You wouldn’t be able to sleep not knowing whether Mr. Marbles was safe in a home. Good luck, hope the transition goes well. I know you’ll make it work. 🙂
