Feline Friday: The week’s photos

It was kind of a tough week for Mr. Kinikini, The Cat Formerly Known as Marbles.

He had two vet visits. Not one, two. First was last Sunday for his ear. Antibiotic shot. Done. But getting stuffed into the cat carrier…he was not happy about that.

And then Tuesday was an appointment that had been scheduled in advance for a full checkup, blood test, etc. He was also vaccinated for feline diseases beyond FIV. So he not only suffered the indignity of being boxed up and thrown into the car, he suffered handling by strangers, needles, and so on.

And over the next day, he apparently felt like what we were warned about after the covid vaccinations. He ate hardly anything for the next 24 hours, and didn’t really start to act and eat normally on Thursday evening, more than 48-hours after his exam.

And one more surprise. We invited our regular cat sitter over to meet the new cats, as we start to contemplate a return to travel over the next couple of months. So she arrived on time. And both Kali and Kinikini disappeared. I finally found Kali under a chair in the living room by reaching down with my iPhone and taking a picture. You’ll see it in this collection. Her favorite red catnip mouse was also in there with her.

Kinikini was just under his futon, so we were able to get down on hands and knees and at least get a sighting of him.

I know that some people have “normal” cats that aren’t spooked whenever anyone else comes into their space. That’s Romeo, at least now in his senior years. The other two? Not so much, at least not when new people are concerned, and I think we’re still on double secret probation.

Anyway, enjoy the cats.

In a way, I like that my cats aren’t too friendly upon meeting new people. Their natural instinct is self preservation and I’m okay with it. Eventually they’ll warm up (as if I need to tell you) to the cat sitter and everyone will get along famously!
