Have a seat–It’s Feline Friday!

It’s a wet Friday morning in Honolulu, with a flood watch in effect for the entire state through Monday afternoon. We’re heading to Kaaawa for dinner with friends tonight, and will just have to hope it hasn’t actually rained much so that the roads are passable.

Meanwhile, the cats made it through another week. Romeo has surprised me again by suddenly deciding he’s ready to eat the dry food that is easier on the kidneys. I also have an inventory of several Fancy Feast seafood varieties, some canned K/D kidney food, beef and turkey baby foods, and a new addition, a container of 50 Churu cat treats, veterinary formula with additional calories and nutrients. He loves the stuff, which is a paste that comes in small foil tubes. I squeeze it out into a small dish and he snarfs it up immediately.

In practice, I approach cat feeding times with a buffet planned, and then offer items to Romeo, one at a time. If he doesn’t eat the first, I’ll try another. And I also give him smaller snacks every few hours through the day.

Whatever Romeo walks away from, Kinikini is usually willing to clean up. Kali, not so much. She’s prefers dry food almost 100% of the time.

Hopefully the cats will still get some afternoon sun over the weekend despite the flood watch.
