Well, it’s the final Feline Friday of 2021. Bessie has been with us for two weeks and two days.
2021. A year of three shots of the Pfizer vaccine, and two successful adoptions from the same cat colony in Aiea that produced Ms. Kali last year.
For now, we are a Four Cat household.
Tomorrow will be the start of a new year, and is also the 17th anniversary of Romeo’s entrance into our lives as a scared, hungry cat that took refuge under our house from the New Year’s Eve craziness in Kaaawa. He never looked back, and has been with us since.
And here’s your guide to the dueling calicos. That’s Bessie, on the left, and Kali on the right.
Kali has the gold tabby markings across her forehead, and the two smudges on either side of her nose.
Bessie has a black mask, and more white on her shoulders and body.
We haven’t yet been able to compare the calicos side by side, but we think Bessie is a bit larger. Kali is quite petite. Chubby, but petite.
In any case, here’s the week in photos.
You’ll see some of the Christmas gifts received, the yellow catnip banana, at least one additional small toy (there are several in various states of play), and the wonderful plaid tube that offers lots of opportunities for playful ambushes.
So Happy New Year, from our felines to you!
And, without further ado….

All the best to you, Meda and your entire furmily! May your new year be healthy, happy and full of kitty shenanigans!
Looking forward to keeping up with all of you in ’22!
Wonderful photos. A good way to meet the cats. Happy New Year Ian and Meda.
‘Fer cryin’ out loud: (this has been driving me nuts): Kali has “beauty marks”, not “smudges”!
Massive extra love to dear Romeo.
