Our three pandemic adoptees all reflect, to slightly different degrees, their experience in the cat colony at the top of Aiea Heights. All have a keen sense of self-preservation, and remain wary of unfamiliar humans, and they even required Meda and I to reestablish our credentials as trusted beings before they would really come out of their protective shells. The initial phase took a bit more than an hour. That’s how long it took to come out of hiding. But it wasn’t until Thursday morning–about 30 hours after we walked into the house after a week away in Portland–that these three funny felines finally started demanding, and competing for, our attention.
Lots of photos taken since our return. I guess that means we missed them terribly and had to make up some of that lot time. You’ll see the catnip pickle we brought back. It has been a hit. Kinikini found that he could jump onto a cabinet in our laundry room, a place where no cat has been before. Bessie discovered the sound bar for our tv is warm, and has adopted that awkward perch as a place to stretch out and sleep. Kali declared that I would not be allowed to nap until she stretched out along my left leg and went to sleep. And Romeo is still with us. Each week is another gift.
And so, without further ado, the cats!

Thank you for filling us in on the re-integration back into general population. I am happy all feline members lived through this event. That is quite a leap for Kinikini ! I worried about these critters too!
Pickle courtesy of the Portland Pickle ball team store ala Tom Schroeder, I would bet.
